Huge thanks to the students of Copenhagen Primary School for their brilliant efforts during this year’s Student Volunteering Week.
The students heard an assembly from Church Housing Trust to help them consider what homelessness is like and what they can do to help homeless people. They also thought about homelessness in their lessons and collected food throughout the week.
Half of the food was donated to Church Housing Trust to be passed on to homeless individuals, and the rest to surplus food distribution charity FareShare.
Church Housing Trust delivered half of the food to a central London hostel, King George’s, which works with long-term rough sleepers and entrenched homeless men with high needs.
Several boxes of canned food, dried pasta, and cereal were collected by the kids and will help people who have recently come off the streets and have nothing. The basic foodstuffs will also give others at the hostel the chance to practise their cooking skills.
Well done to the students of Copenhagen Primary School for their incredible efforts!
