A safe place to stay
Charlie became homeless after losing her job and splitting up with her partner.
With no income to find a new home, she sofa surfed at friends’ houses with her young daughter, until it became too difficult and the three-year-old moved back in with her father.
She continued sofa surfing and sleeping rough, seeing her daughter when she could, which was very difficult with nowhere safe to stay.
She is now moving into a flat thanks to council support. There are some basic pieces of furniture, but she would love to make it more of a home.
Church Homeless Trust gave her a grant to buy some bedding, towels and clothing, including bedding specially for her daughter when she visits.
She said “It will make a huge difference as I can have my daughter to stay and show I have a safe place for her.”
