Youth charity Fixers aims to inspire and help young homeless people, in an upcoming showcase and networking event to End Youth Homelessness.
The event, ‘I Have a Voice’, is being held from 3-6pm on Saturday 16 April.
Young artists and performers will come together in the Lewington Centre, Southeast London, to share experiences and inspire other young people who have been, or are experiencing, homelessness.
The organisers, youth service Fixers, set up the free event in order to encourage homeless youths to regain their confidence by performing an uplifting poem, song, story, or dance.
There will also be food, drink, and the opportunity to network with local services.
The organisers explained that: “This will give other youths experiencing similar situations the opportunity to see that it is possible to overcome their struggles.
“It will also enable the local community to get involved in the youths’ lives and get them on the right path.”
Church Housing Trust will give a short talk alongside perfomances from young singer-songwriters, poets, actresses, and other performers. Local housing groups and MP of Lewisham, Vicky Foxcroft, will also attend.
Fixers and End Youth Homelessness aim to help homeless young people overcome their struggles by building their confidence and self-esteem through self-development workshops, education, and training.
